Renewals Outpace New Approvals in February 2007

February is always the start of the renewal application season, as most franchisors review and update their franchise agreements at the beginning of the calendar year. This year was no exception: there were 16 renewal applications approved and 11 new listings made.

The Franchise Registry is the online listing of franchise systems whose franchisees receive expedited loan processing when applying for financial assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

"It is important that franchisors renew their Registry listing as soon as their new agreement is ready," said Darrell Johnson, President, FRANdata. "The worst time to discover that they need to renew is when they have a franchisee waiting for a loan."

* The listings for Dairy Queen of NJ has the following footnotes, “The franchise system only covers New Jersey” and "The term of the franchis is the shorter of 20 years or the rest of the term of an existing lease".

** The listing for Environix has the following footnote, "The term is 5 years, with renewals."

*** The listing for Fantastic Sams (Gold Country Salons) has the following footnote, "Applicable only to franchises in California and Nevada"
